About Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
Verida provides NEMT services to BlueCare and TennCareSelect members. If you don’t have a way to get to your covered health services, you can call to get a ride.
This is a shared-ride service. That means you may have to share a ride with another member going to an appointment. You can bring one person with you to your appointment if you need to. Just make sure to let us know when you schedule the trip.

FAQS
What is Non Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)?
NEMT is a service for BlueCare and TennCareSelect members. It helps members who need a ride to their medical appointments. The appointments must be for care Medicaid covers.
Does Verida provide private transportation to appointments?
This is a shared-ride service. That means you might ride with other people who are being picked up near you. You can ride alone if your doctor says there’s a medical reason. You can choose to drive your own car. You can also ask a friend, family member or neighbor to give you a ride.
Are there limits to how far I can travel to and from a medical appointment?
Yes. You can get a ride for appointments in the area where you live. Sometimes you might need a special medical service you can’t get in your area. When this happens, you’ll be able to get a ride outside your area. If the trip you need is outside your area but under 90 miles away, call us, and we’ll schedule it for you. If your trip is over 90 miles away, your plan will need to approve the ride first. If your trip is to a service Medicaid doesn’t pay for, BlueCare or TennCareSelect will have to approve it.
Am I allowed to bring shopping bags on the vehicle?
You may bring one bag with you as long as it fits on your lap.
Am I allowed to take a friend or family member to appointments?
Yes. One adult can go with you on your trip to help. Tell the customer service person an adult will be riding with you when you schedule your trip.
When scheduling transportation, how much advanced notice is required?
You should schedule your trip at least 72 hours (3 calendar days) before your appointment. You can also schedule your trips as far in advance as you would like.
Am I allowed to schedule transportation to and from non-medical appointments?
No. You can schedule rides to and from medical appointments only. You can also stop at the pharmacy.

Have this information ready when booking a ride:
- The date and time of the appointment
- Your Medicaid ID number and your date of birth
- Destination information – address, phone number, doctor’s name, type of appointment, and name of the medical facility
- Your mobility status (walking, wheelchair, stretcher)
