About Mississippi Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
NEMT services are provided to Shared Health Mississippi Members who require transportation assistance to plan-approved locations. Verida arranges transportation for all Shared Health Mississippi Members residing state-wide in Mississippi. Call Verida to arrange NEMT services to plan-approved locations at least three (3) business days in advance of the appointment date. You can schedule up to 30 days in advance. To schedule, change, or cancel transportation use the numbers provided below. Refer to the plan’s Evidence of Coverage for details on benefits, or call the Customer Service number on the back of your member ID card.

Making Transportation Arrangements
When scheduling transportation, please have the following information ready for the Customer Service Representative when calling:
- Member’s full name, phone number, address, date of birth, and county of residence
- Member’s ID Number as it appears on their Shared Health Mississippi card, or member’s name and date of birth.
- Specify any special needs (oxygen, escort) when you schedule the appointment
- An emergency contact’s name and phone number
- Destination information – address, phone number, doctor’s name, type of appointment, and name of the medical facility
- Member’s mobility status (walking or wheelchair)

What is Non Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)?
NEMT is a service that is provided to Shared Health Mississippi members who require transportation assistance to plan-billable healthcare services and have no other means of transportation.
How do I apply for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation?
The Mississippi Division of Medicaid contracts with various managed care organizations throughout the state. Please reach out to your health plan to find out more about becoming eligible for NEMT.
How is transportation determined?
Verida arranges transportation for all Shared Health Mississippi members residing in Mississippi. Please call the Verida toll-free number at 1-855-735-4354 to confirm eligibility and to schedule transportation.
Does Verida provide private transportation to appointments?
Since this is a shared-ride service, it is possible that you will ride with other passengers picked up at or near your pick-up location. Verida offers public transportation and fuel/gas reimbursement as an alternative.
Are there limits to how far I can travel to and from a medical appointment?
Transportation is available to services in your home community. Travel outside your home community is limited to 100 miles without authorization.
Am I allowed to bring shopping bags on the vehicle?
Yes. As long as you are able to hold the bags in your lap, you are allowed to bring shopping bags on the vehicle. Additionally, if a you are being discharged or admitted from a facility/hospital, you may bring luggage or a duffle bag.
Am I allowed to take a friend or family member to appointments?
You may bring an escort if there is a medical need for one. The escort must be present at the pick-up point and remain with you throughout the trip.
When scheduling transportation, how much advanced notice is required?
To schedule transportation, you should book at least three (3) calendar days in advance of the appointment date. As an added convenience, you may book up to 30 calendar days in advance.
Am I allowed to schedule transportation to and from non-medical appointments?
You can schedule transportation to and from plan-approved visits, medical and value add.
What type of information is required to schedule transportation to an appointment?
