About Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
Transportation is provided to Georgia WellCare Members who require transportation assistance to Medicaid-billable healthcare services and have no other means of transportation.
Call Verida to arrange non-emergency medical transportation services to covered medical services at least three (3) business days (excluding weekends and official holidays) in advance of the appointment date. You can schedule up to 30 business days in advance. To schedule, change, or cancel transportation use the numbers provided below for your specific Region.

Making Transportation Arrangements
When scheduling transportation, please have the following information ready for the Customer Service Representative when you call:
- Your full name, phone number, address, date of birth, and county of residence
- Your Medicaid number as it appears on your Medicaid card or your name & date of birth Specify any special needs (oxygen, escort) when you schedule the appointment
- An emergency contact’s name and phone number
- Destination information – address, phone number, doctor’s name, type of appointment, and name of the medical facility
- Your mobility status (walking, wheelchair, stretcher)

How do I apply for Non-Emergency Medical Transportation?
Contact the Medicaid office in your county/region to apply for Medicaid or to find out more about Non-Emergency Medical Transportation.
How is transportation determined?
Verida arranges transportation for all Georgia WellCare members residing in counties located in the North and Atlanta regions of the State. Call the Verida number that corresponds to your county.
- Atlanta Region Counties (404-209-4000): Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett
- North Region Counties (678-510-4555): Banks, Barrow, Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Cherokee, Cobb, Dade, Dawson, Douglas, Fannin, Floyd, Forsyth, Franklin, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Hall, Haralson, Jackson, Lumpkin, Morgan, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, Walker, Walton, White, Whitfield
Does Verida provide private transportation to appointments?
No, since this is a shared-ride service, you can expect to ride with other passengers picked up at or near your pick-up location. Verida offers public transportation vouchers and fuel/gas reimbursement as an alternative.
Are there limits to how far I can travel to and from a medical appointment?
Yes, transportation is available to services in your home community. Travel outside your home community is available only when those specialized services are not available within your home community.
Am I allowed to bring shopping bags on the vehicle?
You are only able to carry one bag onto the vehicle; bag must fit in your lap…no exceptions.
Am I allowed to take a friend or family member to appointments?
One adult escort or attendant may accompany you if he or she has the same origin and destination as you and requires assistance for some medical reason. Escorts MUST be requested when scheduling the appointment.
When scheduling transportation, how much advanced notice is required?
To schedule transportation, you should book at least three (3) business days in advance of the appointment date. You may book up to 30 business days in advance.
Am I allowed to schedule transportation to and from non-medical appointments?
No, transportation is provided to and from medical appointments ONLY. Some of which may be considered covered or non-covered as determined by Medicaid.
What type of information is required to schedule transportation to an appointment?

- Your Medicaid number as it appears on your WellCare card or your social security number & date of birth
- Specify any special needs (i.e. oxygen, escort, over-sized wheelchair, etc.) when you schedule the appointment
